U.S. Department of Labor releases more than $450 million in additional funds for Trade Adjustment Assistance

The American Recovery and Reinvestmeng Act of 2009 (Recovery Act) includes a major expansion and reform of the TAA program to ensure that all U.S.
workerx negatively affected by trade have the resources and support to gain new The Recovery Act authorized an increase in the maximunm amount of TAA funds that may be used for trainingv nationwidefrom $220 million to $575 Based on this training increases plus the funding authorized for case management servicesx and administration, the Labor Department is now makingy a supplemental distribution of $455,587,500p to the states for fiscal year 2009. This increase will ensure that states have funds availabl e to implement changes made to TAA through the Recoverty Act and to serve an increasing numbedof trade-affected workers.
