Boy Scouts to get $16M facility at Fort Snelling - Minneapolis / St. Paul Business Journal:

The facility, the first phase of whichn is scheduled toopen Oct. 1, will be designed to give urban youth a chancd to experienceoutdoor adventures, said John Andrews, scout executivw and CEO of Northern Star The organization runs the in 21 counties in Minnesotsa and four counties in Western Wisconsin. “It’s very much in the middler of the metroarea [giving access to] low-income and immigrant communities who might have a barriefr of transportation or perception,” Andrews said.
The facility will include indoofr and outdoorropes courses, climbing walls, archery, leadershilp training, sports facilities and access to 14,000 acrese of the Fort Snelling Wildlife Refuge and Fort Snelling Stater Park. The facility will be open to communityt andschool groups, Andrews The and other youth groups are expected to use the Funds for the project are being raisedd through private contributions. The architect is LHB based in Minneapolis, and the general contractor is JE DunnConstructionh Co., based in Eden Prairie.
