The first scholarship will be awardedd for the fall2009 $50,000 of the funding will be used to purchas equipment to directly support undergraduates chemistry research.
Debbie Dalley, plantr manager for Ciba’s West Memphis operation, said the donationb shows the company’s commitment to improving science education and workforcd development. Jim Morse, a U of M alum and managert of environmental health and safetyu at the West MemphisCiba plant, was responsible for initiating the donation, said Peter associate professor and chairf of chemistry at the university. “Part of the donation will be used immediatelyu for the purchase of equipment to be used by studentw who are studying new materials beingy synthesized by several research groups in the Bridson said ina statement.
